FIFA 18 Impressions: What the Game Looks Like Early OnFIFA 18 Impressions: What the Game Looks Like Early On With all of the excitement of the fall release schedule, few titles are as well anticipated as the newest edition of FIFA. FIFA 18 has been released on all major consoles, and my time with it thus far has been positive. As with most yearly sports titles, refinements and additions are preferred to mass overhauls, and for FIFA 18 this holds true. With that being said, let’s get down to it.

Indie Game Dev - Behind the Scenes #8New Indie Game Dev - Behind the Scenes series where I'll be sharing my new Football game with SimHeads like yourselves! This game is in its infancy, so there's much to do and many changes along the way. The game is based on an RPG story, but will have plenty of solid "on the field" gameplay for you to enjoy. The art style will be Retro, but will include elements of the current gen games. Join me along this journey and subscribe to my...
How Franchise Modes Could Be Improved in NBA 2K18How Franchise Modes Could Be Improved in NBA 2K18 With NBA 2K17 came a much needed overhaul of MyGM and MyLeague, the two franchise modes in the NBA 2K series. 2K17 brought in some much-needed additions: expansion (no contraction), start today, start in offseason, dynamic rule changes, draft pick protections and swaps and offseason trading (following lottery). While it’s impossible to ask the 2K team to cram all of the nuances of the CBA into a video game, 2K17 was a giant step in...

The Golf Club 2 Is a Strong Improvement Over the OriginalThe Golf Club 2 Is a Strong Improvement Over the Original In August 2014, HBC Studios released a small independent game entitled The Golf Club. If I am being honest, a game that would already be best described as a niche title within a niche genre was already a hard sell to a community. Now imagine trying to sell that idea and premise to a community who is used to having legitimate licensed courses, apparel, clubs and balls — not so easy. Oh yeah, did I mention trying to do all of...
What We Learned About NBA Live 18 At EA PlayAfter a year-plus hiatus, EA showed off the return of the NBA Live franchise. This basketball series, which has been riddled with poor releases on the current and past generation of consoles, showed off a little bit of gameplay and a new mode called “The One” at this year’s E3. So what do we know about the game so far? The answer: not much. What we do know is that NBA Live seems to be going to great lengths to separate itself from its competitor. The...
Gaming Reviews Impact Winter Review
Impact Winter Review Trudging through a desolate, snow-covered landscape for ten minutes, scavenging a couple of gas cans, and hiking another ten minutes back to the fire you need to fuel sounds like a chore. This series of actions is what characterizes the experience of Impact Winter, a slow-paced survival game. But monotonous as it may seem, you'll be driven to keep performing these actions because of the tense scenario that contextualizes them. Instead of challenging you to persist indefinitely, Impact Winter asks you to endure for a set amount of time with the looming promise of rescue--an end to your struggles--and pushes you to stretch your already thin resources just that little bit further. You play as Jacob, who leads a group of four other calamity survivors. They're holed up in a church when a little robot called Ako-light springs to life, broadcasting a mysterious transmission that states a rescue operation is occurring in 30 days. Jacob's task is to leave the safety of the church with Ako-light at his side and traverse the post-apocalyptic tundra, scavenging for supplies in order to keep the group alive until that time. Sometimes, this is all you'll see for a while. Each survivor, including Jacob, has a number of meters that must be maintained at a safe level in order to avoid their deaths or departures from the group. These include overall health, energy, hunger, thirst, temperature, and morale. Keeping the church bonfire fueled and making sure each survivor is fed and happy are as important as exploring the world and completing quest lines, which fast-track the looming rescue operation by taking chunks off the timer. The constant juggling of all these priorities keeps you anxiously engaged, your thoughts constantly being occupied with short-term...
Diamond Dynasty Update: New Impact Veterans Released
It's a light Friday update by Diamond Dynasty standards. A new pack, a couple new cards and a small roster update are the major highlights. The June 2nd Bases Loaded pack costs 5,000 Stubs per pack (limit 3 per person) and will have a guaranteed Impact Veteran or Breakout Series player in it. The new players in these packs (in addition to all the old classics) are Impact Veteran Aaron Hill (89 overall), Impact Veteran Angel Pagan (85), Impact Veteran Dioner Navarro (84), Impact Veteran Denard Span (84), Impact Veteran Justin Morneau (81), Impact Veteran Johnny Bench (78), and Impact Veteran Dale Murphy (73). I would say these packs are not worth your Stubs, so if you're really dying to get a couple more Breakout or Impact Veterans just head to the Marketplace and buy a couple. Battle Royale got a mid-week update that added Breakout Eric Gagne (97) and Hardware Joey Votto (96) as two new potential rewards for going 12-0. Another group of players were added today as potential rewards for various tiers of wins. These players include Impact Veteran Chipper Jones (95), Postseason Flashback Cole Hamels (95), Impact Veteran Cliff Floyd (88), Impact Veteran Drew Storen (87), Impact Veteran Shin-Soo Choo (85), Impact Veteran Joaquin Benoit (85), All-Star Odubel Herrera (84), Impact Veteran Drew Pomeranz (84), Impact Veteran Roberto Alomar (83), All-Star Addison Russell (82), and Impact Veteran Ted Williams (80). In terms of the roster update, it lacks any major impact, but as always, we still have some players moving between tiers. Moving Up Gold: David Robertson (86) Silver: Robbie Ray (82), Luis Severino (82), Jake McGee (82), Cameron Maybin (80), Alex Avila (80) Bronze: Adam Frazier (74), Paul Sewald (73), Koda Glover (72), Chase Whitley (71) Charlie Blackmon also improved his Gold status...

Tennis World Tour Set to Join Next-Gen
It's been a long time coming, but it seems like we might finally get a Top Spin successor on current-gen consoles. Tennis World Tour is set to be formally introduced at Gamescom 2017 in August, and I'm very excited about it. I have owned every Top Spin that ever existed, as well as a temporary venture into Virtua Tennis 4, which had better graphics but was nearly unplayable by comparison. With that being said, I feel like Top Spin set the standard in being able to translate tennis to video games. I kid you not, my youth tennis coach noted that my decision making started to improve on the court as I played the game more. PES 2018: Breaking Down the Early Info
Its hard to believe the European soccer season is almost over. With only a handful of Cup matches left, the doldrums of summer are nearly upon us.
